Because of the high proportion of packaging material they contain, expired foods present a particular challenge to plant operators. The separating crusher HTZ facilitates crushing of organics and separation of packaging materials in one processing step. While the organics are available to the further process for fermentation, the separated packaging can be used as substitute fuel or be conveyed to a subsequent recycling process. The HTZ was developed for industrial applications in which high throughput capacity and robust design of the technology employed take priority.
